Searching the Deeper Waters: Summer Fishing in Key West
Key West - Monroe, FL
Key West delivered a solid day on the water recently. The crew put in the miles and managed to find a few nice Mahi-Mahi to bring home for dinner, along with plenty of hard-fighting Bonita keeping the rods bent throughout the trip.
While the offshore bite requires a bit of hunting right now, the action is steady once you get on the fish. Trolling weed lines and looking for diving birds remains the go-to strategy for picking up surface feeders in the Keys.
Recent Trip Highlights Target Species: Mahi-Mahi & Bonita
Location: Offshore Key West, FL
Technique: Surface trolling and watching for floating debris/birds
Conditions: Great water clarity and active surface feeding
